A Wise Duck
"A watched pot never boils,
But a pot left unwatched may boil over"
Said the duck, sitting sophisticated upon a spire,
Oblivious to the shadows that slithered their way
Across the ground, stealing away the day.
"Love overcomes all," the duck prattled on,
"Except for stab wounds and poisoning."
He sat on top of the world,
And shouted his wisdom to the skies.
But who would really listen to a duck?
